2018/19 Academic Year begins.

Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for completion of the LPI test for International applicants taking first-year English beginning in Winter 2018/19 Term 1, and also residing and attending school outside of Canada at the time of the July or August deadlines. Contact the First-Year English Office by 16 July 2018 for permission to take this late sitting.

Student Housing & Hospitality Services: Winter Session Residences open for Term 1 at 9:00 a.m.

Graduate Studies: Students wishing to apply for Affiliated Fellowships and external awards administered through the University (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR) for 2019-20 should check with their departments for internal student deadlines.

Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program: First day of Period 1 and Period 6 (September 4 – October 13, 2018).

Imagine UBC: First-day orientation program for undergraduate students in most programs. All classes are replaced by Imagine UBC - see list of participating programs and exceptions.

Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) & Master of Management (MM) Programs: First day of Period 1 (September 4 – October 19, 2018).

Teacher Education Program: First day of classes for Term 1/Orientation Day (all options).

Last day for payment of first instalment of fees for registration and course changes made before September 1. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

Last day to submit online applications for Affiliation Scholarships, Affiliation Bursaries, Awards for Aboriginal Students, and Awards for students with disabilities.

The Winter General Bursary application, available to students online through the Student Service Centre between August 15 and September 15, 2018, closes at midnight. Students must have confirmed full-time enrolment, must be receiving their 2018/19 student loans, and must have assessed unmet financial need to be considered for general bursaries. For more information see the UBC Bursary Program.

Student Service Centre remains open for course withdrawals with a W standing. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific drop/withdrawal dates.

Last day for eligible students to apply for an exemption from the U-Pass program. Consult U-Pass Eligibility for information and instructions.
