  1. SOIL 500 (3) Graduate Seminar

    This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  2. SOIL 501 (3) Advanced Soil Processes

    Integrating the environmental factors influencing soil-forming processes and their ecological implications. Credit will be granted for only one of SOIL 501 or APBI 401. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  3. SOIL 502 (3) Advanced Sustainable Soil Management

    Integration of fundamental, unifying, soil science principles in sustainable ecosystem management. Credit will be granted for only one of SOIL 502 or APBI 402. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  4. SOIL 503 (3) Advanced Soil Sampling, Analyses and Data Interpretation

    Field and laboratory analytical techniques in the chemical, biological and physical assessment of soils. Credit will be granted for only one of SOIL 503 or APBI 403. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  5. SOIL 512 (3-6) Advanced Soil Biology

    Current research in root-soil interfaces. Offered in alternate years. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  6. SOIL 513 (3/6) c Advanced Soil Physics

    Infiltration and evaporation of water, flow and storage of heat and chemicals in soil, and interactions with the atmosphere. Emphasis on mathematical formulation of problems and solutions using analytical and numerical methods. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  7. SOIL 514 (3/6) c Biometeorology

    Energy and mass exchange in the biosphere with emphasis on the interfaces between the atmosphere and soils, plants and animals. Offered in alternate years. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  8. SOIL 515 (3) Watershed Science

    Watershed evaluation, key aspects of hydrology, water quality, land use impacts on water resources and integration of multiple land use activities and their cumulative impacts. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: LWS 515.

  9. SOIL 516 (3) Urban Watershed Management

    Urbanization impacts on water resources with a focus on rainwater management, water quality, point and non-point sources of pollution, drinking water and waste water, riparian buffer zones, cumulative effects, and application of beneficial management practices. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: LWS 516.

  10. SOIL 517 (3) Land and Water Resource Evaluation

    Topics in land and water system evaluations and assessing resource development options; monitoring and modelling environmental systems. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: LWS 517..

  11. SOIL 518 (3) Water in International Development

    Key water issues associated with international development: global water demand, scarcity, efficiency of use, water as a commodity, biophysical and policy aspects of water management, water and health, land use impact, water harvesting, improved irrigation, and pollution prevention. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  12. SOIL 520 (3) Agricultural Watershed Management

    Intensive and extensive agriculture with a focus on water needs, water use, and impacts on water resources. Non-point sources of pollution, nutrient modelling, soil and land degradation, protection, and rehabilitation of watersheds including buffer zones, wetlands, and best management practices. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: LWS 520.

  13. SOIL 524 (3) Instrumentation for Biometeorology

    The theory, design and evaluation of instrumentation for biometeorological research. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor is required.
