    Introduction to contemporary Russian Oral practice, grammar, reading, writing.

  2. RUSS 101 (3) Basic Russian I

    Introduction to contemporary Russian. Oral practice, grammar, reading, and writing.

  3. RUSS 102 (3) Basic Russian II

    Continuation of RUSS 101.

  4. RUSS 112 (3) Russian for Singers

    Study of Russian language and culture for opera students.

  5. RUSS 200 (6) Second-Year Russian

    Intermediate oral practice, grammar, reading, composition. A special section may be provided for Science students. Credit will be granted for only one of RUSS 200 or both of RUSS 201 and RUSS 202. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 100, RUSS 102.

  6. RUSS 201 (3) Second-Year Russian I

    Intermediate oral practice, grammar, reading, composition. A special section may be provided for Science students. Credit will be granted for only one of RUSS 201 or RUSS 200. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 100, RUSS 102.

  7. RUSS 202 (3) Second-Year Russian II

    A continuation of RUSS 201. Intermediate oral practice, grammar, reading, composition. A special section may be provided for Science students. Credit will be granted for only one of RUSS 202 or RUSS 200. Recommended pre-requisite: RUSS 201.

  8. RUSS 206 (3) Nineteenth-Century Russian Writers in Translation

    The writings, lives, and thought of selected authors.

  9. RUSS 207 (3) Twentieth-Century Russian Writers in Translation

    The writings, lives, and thought of major Russian authors.

  10. RUSS 215 (3) Russian Practice

    Emphasis on oral practice and reading. It is recommended that this course be taken concurrently with one of the following: RUSS 200, RUSS 201, RUSS 202. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 100, RUSS 102.

  11. RUSS 300 (6) Third-Year Russian

    Intermediate oral practice, syntax and composition. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 200, RUSS 202.

  12. RUSS 301 (3) Third-Year Russian I

    Advanced intermediate oral practice, syntax and composition. Credit will be granted for only one of RUSS 301 or 300. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 200, RUSS 202.

  13. RUSS 302 (3) Third -Year Russian II

    Advanced intermediate oral practice, syntax and composition. Credit will be granted for only one of RUSS 302 or RUSS 300. Recommended pre-requisite: RUSS 301.

  14. RUSS 305 (3) Readings in Russian Literary Texts

    Texts are selected from 19th-, 20th-, and 21st-century sources. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 200, RUSS 202.

  15. RUSS 306 (3/6) d Russian Literature in Translation

    A comprehensive historical and critical presentation with emphasis on the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

  16. RUSS 315 (3) Advanced Russian Practice

    Continuation of RUSS 215. May be taken concurrently with RUSS 300. Recommended pre-requisite: RUSS 215.

  17. RUSS 316 (3) Russian through Film (in Russian)

    Conversation and composition using Russian film. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 200, RUSS 202.

  18. RUSS 321 (3-6) d Imagining Location in Russian Literature (in English)

    Russian literature and film, focused around a particular geographical and cultural location.

  19. RUSS 323 (3-6) Fantastic Worlds in Russian Fiction (in English)

    Russian genre fiction and film (science fiction, fantasy and gothic).

  20. RUSS 400 (3/6) d Fourth-Year Russian

    Advanced oral practice, reading and composition. Recommended pre-requisites: one of RUSS 300, RUSS 302.

  21. RUSS 401 (6) Russian for Reading Knowledge

    Russian for Reading Knowledge This course provides a reading knowledge of Russian, sufficient to enable students to understand scientific and scholarly material. Basic grammar and practice in the translation into English of texts in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Intended primarily for upper-year and graduate students.
