    An overview of all functional areas of business. Students will be introduced to the computer and internet tools commonly used in business. For non-Commerce students only. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 100 or COMM 100.

  2. COMR 186 (1.5-12) Topics in Business I

    This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  3. COMR 280 (3) Entrepreneurship

    Entrepreneurial essentials from creating viable opportunities through building a founding team, strategic planning, going to market, fleshing out an organization and planning the future of the business. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 280 or COMM 280. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: COMM 280.

  5. COMR 329 (3) Principles of Organizational Behaviour

    An introductory examination of work organizations and the behaviour of individuals within them. Phenomena to be studied include organizational structure, environments, group processes, motivation and leadership (for non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 192, COMM 292, COMM 321, or COMM 329. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: COMM 329.

  6. COMR 382 (3) Economics of Entrepreneurship and Innovation

    Fundamental economic issues faced by entrepreneurs who want to commercialize innovations within start-ups and established firms. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 382 or COMM 382. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of ECON 101, ECON 310.

    Corequisite: One of COMM 280, COMR 280.

    Equivalency: COMM 382.

  7. COMR 386 (1.5-12) d Topics in Business III

  8. COMR 387 (3) Entrepreneurial Finance and Private Equity

    Financial issues encountered by entrepreneurs and those active on the investing side of entrepreneurship, such as working for banks, venture capital firms, or corporate venture organizations, or anyone interacting with entrepreneurs and private equity investors. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 387, COEC 387, or COMM 387. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Corequisite: One of COMM 280, COMR 280.

    Equivalency: COEC 387, COMM 387.

  9. COMR 388 (3) Design Methods for Business Innovation

    Studio-based experience in thinking strategies and design processes applied to business innovation in the private, public, and social sectors. Emphasis on problem solving, co-creation, and innovation for external clients in a collaborative environment. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 388 or COMM 388. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of COMM 280, COMR 280.

    Equivalency: COMM 388.

  10. COMR 389 (3) Creativity in Business

    The role and importance of creativity in developing successful business solutions. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 389 or COMM 389. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  11. COMR 398 (3) Introduction to Business Processes and Operations

    The design and management of systems that efficiently and effectively supply products and services to the end-user. The concepts apply to a variety of settings such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and others (For non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 204 or COMM 398. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  12. COMR 457 (3) Fundamentals of Financial Accounting

    Financial accounting for business organizations; principles and problems of accounting measurements; forms of business organizations; financing of businesses. (For non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 293, COMM 320, or COMM 457. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: COMM 457.

  13. COMR 458 (3) Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting

    Use of accounting data in decision making by businesses; financial statement analysis; cash flows; cost behaviour patterns; methods of accounting for costs. (For non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 294 or COMM 458. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of COMM 293, COMM 457, COMR 457.

  14. COMR 465 (3) Marketing Management

    Basic considerations affecting the domestic and international marketing of goods and services. (For non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 296, COMM 420, or COMM 465. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Corequisite: Either (a) all of ECON 101, ECON 102 or (b) ECON 100 or (c) all of ECON 310, ECON 311 or (d) all of ECON 101, ECON 311 or (e) all of ECON 102, ECON 310.

  15. COMR 473 (3) Business Finance

    Introduction to managerial finance, including the role and functioning of financial markets, procurement of funds and financing strategies, dividend policy, capital budgeting and financial analysis and planning. (For non-Commerce students only). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 298, COMM 421, or COMM 473. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: Either (a) all of ECON 101, ECON 102 or (b) ECON 100 or (c) all of ECON 310, ECON 311 or (d) all of ECON 101, ECON 311 or (e) all of ECON 102, ECON 310; and one of MATH 100, MATH 102, MATH 104, MATH 110, MATH 120, MATH 180, MATH 184.

  16. COMR 482 (3) New Product Development

    How new products are developed and the factors that influence success and failure throughout the various stages of development. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 482 or COMM 482. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  17. COMR 485 (3) Social Entrepreneurship

    An applied course that examines the innovative, growing, and rapidly evolving field of social entrepreneurship, which tackles social and environmental challenges through business perspectives and methods. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 485 or COMM 485. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: COMM 485.

  18. COMR 486 (1.5-12) d Special Topics in Business

    How new products are developed and the factors that influence success and failure throughout the various stages of development. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of COMM 280, COMR 280.

  19. COMR 493 (3) Strategic Management in Business

    A conceptual and practical introduction to the major areas of business strategy with an integrative perspective on managing a business. Includes the analysis of a business and its environment, the development and evaluation of strategic alternatives, and implementation of change (For non-Commerce students only in fourth year). Not for students with credit for, or exemption from, COMM 491 or COMM 493. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of COMM 293, COMM 457, COMR 457 and either (a) all of ECON 101, ECON 102 or (b) all of ECON 310, ECON 311 or (c) ECON 100 or (d) all of ECON 101, ECON 311 or (e) all of ECON 102, ECON 310.

  20. COMR 497 (3) New Enterprise Development

    The particular problems and experiences encountered in starting, developing, and managing new enterprises. The course includes lectures, guest speakers, and case studies. Credit will be granted for only one of COMR 497, COMM 466, COMM 497, COEC 497, APSC 486, or APSC 496E. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Prerequisite: One of COMM 280, COMR 280.

    Corequisite: One of COMM 382, COMR 382 and one of COMM 387, COMR 387.
