Program Overview

Graduate programs (M.Ed. and M.A) in Media and Technology Studies Education (MTSE) focus on learning, research, and teaching in media and technology. This includes applications and design of digital and physical processes and works for educational purposes as well as their economics, history, philosophy, and psychology. This also includes implications of how and why mediated and technological works are processed, coded, made, used, and recycled.

Master of Arts

Admission Requirements

In addition to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies requirements, the program normally requires:

  1. 18 credits of upper-level coursework or a professional concentration in the area of interest, and
  2. two years of teaching experience or other relevant professional experience.

Program Requirements

The program consists of 30 credits, including a thesis, normally 9 credits. At least 15 credits of coursework must be at the 500-level or higher. A maximum of 6 credits may be taken at the 300- or 400-level.

Master of Education

Admission Requirements

Same as for the M.A.

Program Requirements

The program consists of a minimum of 30 credits; at least 24 credits of coursework must be courses numbered at the 500- level or higher. A maximum of 6 credits may be taken at the 300- or 400- level. Students select either a program consisting entirely of courses (30 credits), or 27 credits of coursework plus a 3-credit graduating project.
