Program Overview

The Master of Digital Media (M.D.M.) degree is a terminal professional degree intended for students who wish to pursue careers in fields related to computer-mediated arts and entertainment technologies.

The M.D.M. degree is a full-time, 16-month program at the Great Northern Way Campus (GNWC)'s Centre for Digital Media. It is offered jointly by UBC, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, the British Columbia Institute of Technology, and Simon Fraser University.

Admission Requirements

The equivalent of a four-year baccalaureate degree acceptable to all four GNWC partner institutions is required for admission.

Applicants are evaluated on the following:

  • academic transcripts
  • sample of works
  • evidence of ability in computing
  • statement of intent
  • letters of reference
  • writing ability
  • TOEFL (or equivalent) where applicable

Program Requirements

The program consists of 42 required and 3 elective course credits of instruction taken over three terms, followed by a mandatory 6-credit, 4-month internship, for a total of 51 credits.
