Teacher Education Program: First day of classes for Term 1A/Orientation Day (all options)

Last day for payment of first instalment of fees for registration and course changes made before September 1. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

Pharmaceutical Sciences: Block 1 clerkship begins (September 3 to 27 inclusive).

International Welcome: International Student Orientation for visiting (including Tec de Monterrey-UBC and Korea University-UBC joint academic programs), transfer, and exchange students attending Winter Session Term 1 (see the August 15, 2013 entry for information related to Jump Start 2013, a first-year transition program for first-year degree-seeking international and Aboriginal students).

The General Bursary application, available to students online through the Student Service Centre between August 15 and September 15, 2014, closes at midnight. Go Global: Round 1 application deadline for Exchange and Research Abroad (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Technische Universität Darmstadt, and ALL UNIVERSITIES in the US, Iceland and Japan).

The information that Canadian applicants submit in their Personal Profile when applying to UBC will be used for admissions and for Major Entrance Scholarship consideration. Students wishing to be considered for a Major Entrance Scholarship must submit their online application for admission to UBC by December 10, 2014. This includes paying the admission fee and submitting in-progress or final Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks as requested in the online application.

Summer Session Term 2: Tuition fees due. Students who have not paid their fees will be placed on financial hold; further registration activity will not be permitted, grades will not be released, and graduation diplomas will be withheld. Students will also be assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest will be assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees).

Students who are planning to apply for the Winter General Bursary in August-September should have applied for government student loans for the Winter Session by this date. It is also recommended that students apply by this date in order to have funding in place for the beginning of the Winter Session.

Language Proficiency Index (LPI): Deadline for the completion of the LPI test by BC students (including students who are non-BC residents studying at BC educational institutions) intending to take a first-year English course beginning in September. Newly-admitted students from outside of British Columbia may obtain special permission to write on Saturday, August 29, 2015. To seek permission, write to the First-Year English Office by July 18, 2015.
