    Biomedical, clinical, translational, and population research; research approaches and opportunities across the four health research pillars (biomedical, clinical, health services, population health). This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  2. WACH 502 (3) Seminars in Women+ and Children's Health

    Biological and social determinants of health, health equity and inclusion. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  3. WACH 503 (3) Perinatal Epidemiology

    Indicators of maternal/newborn well-being across population subgroups, changing trends in obstetrical intervention, perinatal morbidity, and the analysis of perinatal data. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: SPPH 537, OBST 507.

  4. WACH 504 (3) Critical Appraisal of Research in Reproductive and Children's Health Sciences

    Principles of critical thinking and appraisal of medical literature with respect to study design and causal inference. Credit will be granted for only one of OBST 509 or WACH 504. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  5. WACH 505 (3) Fundamentals of Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Physics behind MRI and basic principles. Image weighting/contrast, special encoding and image formation, pulse sequences, and hardware. Advanced techniques (functional, diffusion, quantitative, phase- based, spectroscopy) and their applications in women+ and children's health. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  6. WACH 506 (3) Knowledge Translation and Implementation Sciences

    Strategies to promote uptake of innovations and evidence in healthcare from bench to bedside to populations. Credit will be granted for only one of OBST 581 or WACH 506. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  7. WACH 511 (3) Women+ Health Research

    Sexual development, transgender medicine, reproduction and pregnancy, chronic and acute diseases, and social determinants of health. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  8. WACH 512 (3) Women's Mental Health Across Their Lifecycle

    Multidisciplinary approach; interactions with reproductive health and concepts in women's mental health research. Credit will be granted for only one of OBST 511 or WACH 512. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  9. WACH 513 (3) Gynecologic Pathologies: Benign and Malignant

    Focus on genomics and pathophysiology. Credit will be granted for only one of OBST 510 or WACH 513. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  10. WACH 514 (3) Overview of Gynecologic Oncology

    Molecular biology, epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of gynecologic cancers, including uterine cancer, vulvar/vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and how to incorporate the patient experience into research. Credit will be granted for only one of OBST 512 or WACH 514. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  11. WACH 521 (3) Child Health Research

    Biology of human development, child growth and puberty, adolescent health, childhood chronic and acute diseases, gender diversity in pediatrics, social environment and child health, and pediatric research in partnership with Indigenous communities. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  12. WACH 522 (3) Pediatric Nutrition

    Dietary assessment and nutrient requirements in children and youth, assessment of growth and adiposity, application of nutritional biochemistry and animal models, energy balance, macronutrient and micronutrient metabolism and research, restricted diets in children, nutritional interventions in children. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

  13. WACH 531 (3) Reproductive Endocrinology

    Neuroendocrine regulation of reproduction, regulation of the ovarian and testicular function. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: OBST 501.

  14. WACH 532 (3) Physiology of the Mother, Fetus and Newborn

    Functional development of the placenta and major organ systems in the fetal and newborn period in man and animals. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: OBST 502.

  15. WACH 533 (3) Fetal and Perinatal Metabolism

    Nutrient metabolism and requirements during fetal and perinatal development and research methods used to assess requirements; developmental origins of health and disease; gestational obesity and diabetes; nutritional supplements during pregnancy. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

    Equivalency: OBST 503.

  16. WACH 548 (1.5-6) c Directed Studies in Women+ and Children's Health
